Home School Community Scheme (HSCL)

HSCL Coordinator - Ms Elaine Davern

The Home School Community Liaison Scheme is a very positive programme in operation in Coláiste Iósaef for the past number of years. It fosters a sense of trust between the students, parents and the college with the aim of maximising the participation of students and parents in the learning process as a whole. The scheme recognises the parents as the primary educators of their children and is constantly looking at ways to support parents in their role as the primary educators of their child by providing advice, support and classes.

During the year, many programmes and activities are run to encourage greater contact between parents and school. Parental personal development courses and courses related to teenagers are regularly held during the year to empower parents and guardians. Parents are supported through the transition from primary school to post primary school. Home visits can be arranged where parents can discuss any concerns they may have about their child or alternatively, an appointment can be made to come into the school. The HSCL plays a big role in our pastoral care system to ensure that both students and their parents have a positive educational experience.
